Things to know about long COVID – 19

For relatively long time, symptoms of COVID-19 can be experienced in comparison to usual duration of SARS CoV-2 virus.

If COVID-19 symptoms stay over 2 months then it can be defined as long COVID.

Through a survey of CDC, it has been found out that COVID-19 symptoms may take weeks to resolve. More time may be needed to return back to previous state of health. In case of young adults, long COVID can be seen also.
Evidences have shown that people can experience COVID-19 symptoms for a long time after the initial infection. However, clear data cannot be found on the long COVID-19 cases. Study app has suggested that 1 in 10 can experience the symptoms for more than 3 weeks.
National Statistics of United Kingdom office has presented similar result also. In England also, one people in 10 has suffered from COVID-19 for more than 12 weeks. So, it can be estimated that in an excess of 5 million people have suffered from long COVID all over the world.
2021 studies have shown that three fourth of COVID-19 patient in Wuhan, China have experienced one symptoms even six months after coming back from the hospital.
Statistical model has shown that COVID-19 is more dangerous for elderly people that has higher body mass index.
If a patient is experiencing at least five COVID-19 symptoms in the first week of the virus contact then him or her likely to experience long COVID. Lots of healthcare professionals have been suffering from Long COVID as well.

Symptoms of COVID-19

Diverse kinds of symptoms can be seen with COVID-19. Some of the common symptoms are fatigue, cough, chest pain, joint pain and shortness of breath.
In addition, brain fogging, headache, muscle pain, depression, fever and heart palpitation can be experienced too.
If the complication stays for long time then it may affect other organs of the body also. Some lesser seen symptoms of COVID-19 is inflammation in the heart muscle, , rash, lung function abnormality, kidney injury, hair loss, sleep issues and loss of ability to smell or taste.
